History of the island

After a few decades, Aw Boon Haw sold it to a local Indian businessman named Ghulam Mahmood. It was, by then, a popular spot for picnicking and organised water sports. In 1974 the land was reclaimed by the Singapore Authority (PSA) with a 20 million budget, they decided to make the island to a recreational centre, but sadly nothing came to plan.
